Re: [RC] securing horses ! - Hobbling - Kristene Smuts

I have a "break out of everything" young stallion (have posted about him
long time ago) and have also now resorted to hobbling.  It's in the
beginning stages, but it's amazing how quiet he becomes when I put the
hobbles on.  Next training step is to do so in a busy environment with
lots of horses coming and going.  Tying is part of the hobbling
training.  I'll never fully trust him to just stand to hobbles, so will
forever have to tie him as well.  Here in South Africa, very, very few
people hi-tie, so will have to do a trial and error for this young man.

And as Dennis said, when the horse gets tangled it is no issue and I've
seen the thought process in action when he ties himself up.
