My boarding agreement has a provision where they check on whether I
do or do not have authority to have the horse euthanized if all else fails and I
cannot get in touch with them. The only time I ever had to make that
decision was the AERC vet committee chairman's horse. We did
get in touch with her before the vet came but I was willing to do it and
had written authority. Also, my boarders know that I would never do
it unless absolutely a last
resort.........mb
