[RC] Google Indexes all of Ridecamp - k s swigartLinda Merims said: Sigh...how did something as wonderful as the Internet turn into such a Big Brother Is Watching...And *Never* Forgets nightmare? The Internet has always been that way. It is, in fact, the whole reason that the World Wide Web was set up in the first place. So researchers could easily share information by "hyperlinking" to the relevant place without having to search through everything. Instant access to referenced material and all that. Ridecamp has had publicly accessible archives for almost as long as it has been around, if any ever thought that they are doing anything other than publishing when they sent a post to Ridecamp, they were mistaken. If realizing this makes people more careful about what they publish (or if Google making their published statements easier to find), maybe people will be willing to edit what they write before they publish it. Personally, I think this is a good thing, since one of the things that makes the Internet a less good source of information than other published materials is lack of any editor. If people start self-editing because they are now aware that somebody is going to read what they write, this would, IMO, lead to vast improvements. kat Orange County, Calif. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
