Re: [RC] What Arab lines are good for endurance ? - Laney HumphreyBecky Hart's Rio was at least part Egyptian. You've said it very well, Dawn - consider the horse, not the pedigree.Laney rdcarrie@xxxxxxx wrote: Generally, the CMK lines tend to excel, as do some of the Polish horses and some Russian lines. That said, I would not rule any horse out strictly on his pedigree. If the horse you're considering is well-conformed, and has a good head on his shoulders (I'm referring to sane, not necessarily "typey"), then I'd consider him. I have an Egyptian gelding that I'm riding right now. I'm a CMK fan, and already had a very nice young CMK gelding who was going to be my main horse. I bought the Egyptian gelding a year ago on impulse, as a "backup" horse. He was farther along in his training, and I've been doing rides on him while starting the CMK. He's been doing extremely well, has great recoveries, very forward on trail, loves the sport, is fun to ride, and has turned out to be a very nice horse. His sire is a halter horse, dam is old Egyptian lines. I would not have looked at him had I been looking at pedigree alone. But he's got good pretty good subst ance - good bone, very nice feet, could use a bit longer hip, but was fun to ride, and I *really* liked his attitude. So I bought him. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
