Re: [RC] Okay I need a speach about endurance FAST - rides2far

1. Do not stop a horse from drinking on the trail. None of that 6
swallows crap.

2. It is OK for a rider to actually GET OFF AND WALK now and then. Does
amazing things for soreness.

3. Introduce them to the joys of no bounce packs.

4. Introduce them to the idea of getting the girth back from the elbow.
Maybe show them how to modify the regular girthing system by going down
through the girth and back to the rear cinch ring to tie faking a 3/4
rigging.

5. Show them how to check a back for soreness. Heck, some of them need to
be told you should be able to get your fingers between the pommel & the
withers!

6. Mention the need for better shoeing!!!

7. Show them e-z ride type stirrups. It could change their life. :-)

8. Maybe demonstrate a survival kit.

After that, go ahead and spend the rest of your time telling them how
great endurance is so they'll know what they're missing. You might
convert somebody. :-))

I have to talk to a local trail riding club about endurance in about
4 hours. The guest speaker baled on them.
So I am thinking that most of these older 1/4 horse riders will not
try endurance I should talk to them about the stuff we know that
will make them more comfy and protect their horses.
Please email me privately to not clog the list but any ideas will be
appreciated.
I have just over an hour to talk.
