[RC] Skito pads for english saddles - Ridecamp Guest

Yes a skito pad will distort the fit of an english or dressage saddle. If your
saddle is stuffed properly to fit the horses back, you do not need that kind of
pad. If your saddle isn't stuffed properly you will need to go to a saddle
fitter.

I have always ridden english and dressage, (20 plus years) and I only use thin
cotton pads, or a woolbak with NO inserts. I have yet come up with a horse
with a sore back with a thin pad. Get pads that are a high profile, iow they
will take in account the wither of the horse. I make sure I pull mine up into
the front of the saddle. I love my woolbak high profile, they are well worth
the money.

Also if you use too much padding you may feel as though you are wobbly because
of too thick of padding, like a skito.

I ride in an Arabian Saddle Company saddle, wide. It fit right out of the box
on my horse. And that is with a thin cotton pad. I used to (and still have
the saddle) ride in a Crosby Olympia II, which is a medium, and now I have two
wide backed horses, so I ride in the ASC.
