When my Old Man started loosing weight even with a lot of feed, I added a probiotic supplement.  We used Source SR.  It helped him with his digestion and he started utilizing the feed we gave him and put the weight back on.  He also developed cushings, but I could never medicate him for it - he'd stop eating as soon as I started the meds.  He ate a SR feed plus beet pulp in a slurry and we'd have to body clip him as soon as we passed the last cold front and keep him clipped until fall.  He'd look like a yak with that 2 inch long coat!  He lived until 37 years, when he had finally had enough and we let him go.
