Re: [RC] Sitting The Trot- Eek ! - Lynne GlazerIf you are riding in a typical English saddle or one that is rigged so that the stirrups hang from a single point, unless you're in a saddle with a lot of surface area like one with panels or Western-- then you put a ton of pressure on those points from standing. Take a look at the stirrup bar on a bare (English) tree:http://www.sustainabledressage.net/tack/saddle.php Those that have a chance to ought to try a Port Lewis Impression Pad to see if their riding habits are impacting their horse at all. You ride in a Specialized, don't you, Heidi? With the greater surface area, those oughta be ok. I formerly rode in a Passier all purpose and did a number on my horse's back from the narrow twist's recessed stirrup bars--when they recess the bars for the rider's comfort, it goes into the horse's space. :-( Lynne On Apr 14, 2006, at 7:36 PM, Vchorsegal@xxxxxxx wrote: I can't imagine sitting the trot for any length of time ! It's good to know how to do it- in case you lose a stirrup, or ? I find I two point most of the way. I have got my horse to the place where he cruises along steadily & I just "hover" over him & stay out of his way. I post once in a while- but I think that is not as easy on them ! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
