Re: [RC] dog attacks - Diane TrefethenJim Holland wrote:... Dogs don't think it's much fun to be the "aggressee". I think this hits the nail on the head. The dog world can be divided into the ones who think it's fun (interesting, exciting, enjoyable, natural) to chase horses (cats, raccoons, other dogs, deer) and those who attack other living things with a religious zeal that would put Billy Graham to shame. If you are dealing with the former, anything you do that makes the experience unpleasant will be helpful. If you are dealing with the latter, you must treat the situation as a fight to the death because the dog WILL! How can you tell which you are facing? Body language... those little hairs rising along the back of your neck as you watch the animal approach. Your conscious mind may not remember the "look" but your primitive subconscious does. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
