After that incident I looked around for a well made whip. After all with 
the nickname "crackers" you'd think you could find one in FL. I didn't 
find one I liked, but if I find a good on it's going on my saddle. I 
always carry a fold-up locking blade 4 inch hunting knife with a quick 
opening blade. It good for lots of things - like cutting vines we can 
run into. If I happen over another pit bull encounter I hate say it but 
I'm on the ground with the knife open and if he doesn't back off  I will 
have no mercy. I will not have another such encounter.
