Dog attacks while riding

There is always the mule option. My mule has never kicked at a person or a
horse. Where we ride there are a few dogs that will charge out. I always keep
my mule between any other horse and rider and a possible angry dog. Annabelle
won't break stride, but she will watch the dog. I think just the way she
watches backs them off. If any get too close she'll fire a back hoof and won't
miss. She's only hit one. She didn't kill it. But that one sure gives us a wide
pathway now. You don't have to own a mule. Just invite one to ride with you in
an area that you have had repeated problems.

PS - Riding alone, up on the stateland, we rode within 20 yards of a large
black bear. He didn't run off and followed us too close for awhile. She stayed
calm. I'm sure she would have taken him on if he gotten into range.
