Whatever procedure you undergo--with or without
stent--your activities will be guided by subjective factors and by the results
of graded exercise tolerance tests--GXTs ("EKG stress test"). Rest assured,
there are folks out there running marathons with more stents than
sneakers.
I worked for 14 years in research at Stanford and
in Sports Med at Apple doing GXTs and exercise prescription on both normal
people and those with severe heart disease. I consider it a mission to help
restore people to the activities they love. Feel free to PM me for further
discussion or a phone call. That goes for anyone on Ridecamp, to which I owe so
much.
I'd like to know if there are any endurance and/or LD riders
out there riding with a heart stent in place. If so, how soon were you able
to return to full activity and riding again? I'll be going in for a Cath
with the possibility of a stent. Feel free to email me off-list so as
not to clog up RideCamp.
