RE: [RC] posting?? manes?? - rides2far@xxxxxxxxand although your bum should rise out of the saddle, your pockets shouldn't. There are times, like when my horse is in a coma, when he gives me a very relaxed *slow* trot and I can follow this sort of advice. I can just post slightly "forward" and not all this UP & forward arc business. However, when Kaboot...and now my new, also 14.2 horse,Gunner hit their *power* trot, there is so much hang time that I've got to stay up longer. Before an endurance ride I have to shorten my stirrups a lot on Kaboot just to make my "up" arch long enough to come down when he does and not have to tip toe. Does that make sense? I readjust my stirrups a lot. If I plan to ride slowly, I ride with them longer but if my horses are going to do their power trot I can't maintain what feels like the correct position, with ankles, knees and hips relaxed and in that "perpetual motion" groove unless my stirrups are shorter and I'm up longer. P.S. Though his previous owner declared it impossible to ride away from your property alone with him...he did his first solo ride with no panic attacks yesterday. :-)) Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
