How about finding that special rock l/2 way to the vet check, telling 
everyone you will be walking into the vet check, getting to the vet check 
and finding NO ONE - crew, vets, ride mgmt. - there and having to walk the 
the rest of the ride to get back to base camp.  Lo-o-o-o-g day.
