I've done that a number of times-vets like to get a heads up on potential problems. There is a line though on the lameness exams. Don't ask for a full lameness exam when the ride's still going and they have work to do. I have gone over and offered to pay for more comprehensive lameness exam after the ride is pretty much done. There's some stuff that's only evident right after the competition and the timing is important...but blocks, etc. are not what they're being paid by management to do.
