Just now read that Don Skinner is no
longer with us. I am so sorry to hear of this. Don had a tremendous
spirit and was full of zest for life and riding. He had a bottomless
treasure chest of stories of races past--most of those stories highlighting "JR"
(Sha Hasans Assad) as well as a bottomless generous heart for
helping others. On more than one occasion he and his wife Sandy helped me
(and others) with everything from mechanical trailer problems to dinner to
heart monitor help to endurance and saddle advice to helping secure a girth
at the start of a ride with 50 horses going by. Those who rode with them
will remember their feisty and spirited "discussions" as they went down the
trail together, helping eachother and others along the way. Our endurance
family has lost a good friend.
