[RC] [RC] For those who feed - Sherman

Before I started endurance riding my horses got portions of hay that they would finish within a couple of hours. Now they always have at least a bit left over, so I know they are eating all they want. Almost no grains though, just a cup of oats in their beet pulp because they need selenium and I want to make sure they eat it all. Since they eat all they want, there's no need to increase or decrease amounts. If I noticed they were losing weight during the ride seasom, I'd then add more oats and rice bran to the mash. If they are getting fat (hasn't happened yet) then I'd cut back some, but not just because they're not getting ridden as much, only if their body weight determines it should be done.

Can I add my feed question?? My mare is working probably at med intensity at the moment- we will increase until she is in good shape and then taper off- using our endurance rides to keep in shape with easy work in between- so how do I feed at that stage?? Cut down on food on the weeks in between rides and increase the feed maybe 2 days before a 50 and after???? HELP!!!!!!
