Re: [RC] Philosophy and Goals in distance riding - Diane TrefethenOh - here's a question for you ride camp people. You maybe haven't ever had this experience, though. If you went to an endurance ride where your horses HAD to stay in a stall (but you could camp next to the barn in your camper) would that be a turn-off for you? Would it keep you from coming to a ride? It might be our only option at Fair Hill for endurance in the future - the rangers got a bit upset at the mud in our camping field the year that it rained in BUCKETS...I know my horse would be extremely nervous in a stall with the rain pounding on the roof. I think he'd be done before dawn. Another possibility is to PLAN on calling the ride off if the weather is really bad. If people know ahead of time that they should call the RM before leaving home when it looks iffy, they won't be as upset as if they get there and THEN find out the ride has been called by the rangers. BTW, that is why Becky's rides are called SAS - aka Shine and Shine. They used to be Rain and Shine till the rangers said, nope, no way. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
