Fwd: Re: [RC] Anemia - Kristene SmutsKristene Smuts 04/04/06 03:13:19 >>>Rachel K : -----Interesting. Sounds like Red Cell may not be as effective as a vitamin carrier. Powders are better or do they need to be capsules? Haven't seen many horse supplements as capsules. Mostly liquid or powder or pellets.>> Yep...... and I have a few gallons if anybody is interested??? ;-))) The articles and books I've read on nutrition all state that if you are feeding a ration (hard feed), then it has to be balanced in everything and then you don't have to give any extra. Of course it depends on the actual quality of the ingredients. Good hay / grazing and good ingredients in the hard feed will give you all the vitamins and minerals needed. Copper deficiency has also been mentioned as a cause for anemia.>> Yes, but then you start looking at different minerals working against each other if the entire spoonful wasn't formulated by a very clever person!
