Question - it seems to me that if a horse is not drinking well, the last 
thing you'd want to do is give him electrolytes. 
  
Am I wrong? 


Nope, not wrong a-tall.  That's probably the single biggest mistake
people make with e-lytes, and the one that I've seen compromise the
most horses--get him behind the hydration curve and then dump in a
bunch of e-lytes.  If the horse isn't drinking, it's time to call it
quits and figure out a different approach to the problem for another
day.
