On the contrary, Dabney, if the horse was seriously dehydrated, dumping in a bunch more e-lytes without water may well have caused additional imbalances at the tissue level, which could indeed have caused the thumping. Horses are amazingly tolerant and able to self-regulate--but this is just one more example of when and how e-lytes misused or overused can do harm.
