Re: [RC] Rainey rides - rides2farJust curious how many of you go to rides if the weather is going to be bad? Let me see...I rode Big South Fork when it rained 2" *during* the ride. Did Alabama when there were 7 tornadoes that touched down in that county the night before the ride and it rained so much it washed out the trail system but fortunately softened up the gravel roads enough that we had the whole ride on gravel the next morning. Did the Lasma ride in Kentucky the year it was so cold that my heater had ice on it while still running, all those rides really turned out great and were good rides. I've gotten more cautious in the last year or two not because it's so bad to ride in the weather so much as because I'm so paranoid I'll hurt my horse and have to miss a bunch more "misery'. I started Biltmore the year it poured the entire night before and was still raining when we started so they shortened it to 80. I went 40 miles and I was actually enjoying myself but got scared I was going to hurt my horse and quit. It's really not bad *once you're on the horse*. I *hate* getting up and saddling in the rain or cold. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
