as a rule mules are sterile but there has been at least
one molly mule who was not. she was bred to a stallion (accidently i
understand) the first time. the foal resembled a horse more than a
donk. she was donated to one of the universitys (can't remember which) and
bred to a donkey. that foal appeared more donkey like than horse
like. chances are there are more mules who could be bred (not a
bunch though) and reproduce but never have the chance. most john mules are
gelded as they have the same drive as a stallion and more than likely not many
molly mules are in with stallions or jacks. burros are
donkeys.
as to your mare..there was a standardbred in the boarding
stable i used to manage that you would have sworn was a mule. he had a
fine head but LARGE ears and everyone who came in asked if he were a mule.
he was a good hunter jumper and reg. standardbred.
not an expert but a mule owner who has done a good bit of
study on mules,

Hello everyone. I know nothing about mules, burros, donkeys etc...,
but I'm sure there are lots of experts out there that do. My question
is, is it possible for there to be a cross between a horse and one of
these? For example; an equine that is half horse half mule, or an
equine that is half burro half horse, or an equine that is half mule
half burro. Am I correct in believing that Mules are sterile? What
about burros? (are burros and donkeys the same thing, and is that what Mary
was riding to Bethlehem?)
I bought a 4 year old Mustang mare this past summer, and the older
she gets, the more she is looking like some kind of
Ass.
