RE: [RC] [RC] How did you get started? - Juli JakubI am a newbie to endurance. I started riding in high school though. Trained three day eventing. After High School went on to train higher levels with some Olympians, re trained an abused racehorse she was a natural at it. Qualified to go overseas and realized that I did not have the money to pursue it any farther. I had only gone that far on the generosity of a rich aunt and that moolah had run out. Went back home worked jobs ( barn manager, trainer, instructor ect.) still eventing dabbled in polo...was a polo groom for awhile. Found the racecourse, met a jockey, went to Florida, was an exercise rider for quite awhile. Loved galloping, hated the break down rate on the track. Went home again, dabbled in college but kept leaving for horses. Always kept riding. Moved to the Adirondack's with fiance...burned out on the show world...heard of endurance through a friend. I am now gung ho to try it this year. That is a very abbreviated version, but the story is long and complicated and sad at times. I am happy now and i think i will like endurance as I like spending as much time as possible on and with my horses. And so far the people in this discipline seem very nice. Great question and I am interested to hear everyone's answers!Juli

Juli Jakub

The Air of Heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears.

~ arabian proverb

From: "Mel Cochran" <brio_gal@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [RC] How did you get started?
