Re: [RC] [RC] Can't find boots that fit!//"Shoes" in EN Nov - Beverley H. Kane, MDThere is an (OK, "my") article on shoes in the November Endurance News. The article addresses shoes to ride and walk/run in, and Ariats were the family favorite. (The raw data shows Ariats ahead even beyond the stats in the article, which were mainly on Terrains.) All the Ariats are appropriate for working around horses wrt toe protection. Oddly enough, Ariat made shoes too narrow for a long time, then, unlike Chevrolet apparently, graciously accommodated consumer pressure for wider shoes. I have a AAAA heel and one of my solutions is to use Thur-Lo socks, which have extra padding in the heel. Can you try shoe inserts with arches like Spencos or Sorbothane and experiment w/ sock thickness? Arched inserts tend to take up width. Now that we are hock deep in mud in No CA, I slog out to pasture in my Wellies, groom in my gardening Birkenstock clogs w/ thick, hard plastic toes, and change into Ariats to ride. (Another household hint: I keep my low-cut Ariat Taluses and half-chaps as slip-on unit. The stirrup of the half-chaps stays on the shoe. HI-O Silver, Awaaayyyy) Please let us know what ends up working for you.
