Re: [RC] OT-finding dead horse - steelsidedownIs it possible to return to the area and take pictures? I know its gruesome, but the best way to identify. Not knowing what state the animal is in, here are some suggestions: tack, white markings, teeth, wounds, old wounds, splints, hooves, shoes, anything unique to this horse. Also take note of anything around the body, scavengers will drag items away. And I'd cut a loc of tail, in hopes the owner is found, to give it to him/her. Netposse is a good place to send info, as well us, nothing works faster than the "tell everyone you know" method! I'm sure I'm not the only one that this has happened to. What would you RC'ers do in that situation? I did call a couple of "horsey" friends in that area, but they didn't seem to know any reports of lost horses. My husband says to just say nothing because "nobody wants to know that their horse was found dead". I disagree. I would certainly want to know what happened to my horse if this every happened to me.
