Re: [RC] Mud and fitness - Barbara McCrary

We don't. We have tons of trails, but they are generally steep and often slippery. We tend not to ride a lot during a wet winter, and this is one of those! It's gearing up for another storm right now.....

With all the mud we've had this winter season, I'm wondering how
everyone is keeping their horses fit? I'm in Pacifica, CA and I
haven't been able to go on further than a 7 mile ride these past few
months because of the slippery, hilly trails around here! I'm riding
her maybe 2 times a week, mixing it up with quadrille practice and
getting out on the trails if at all possible. I'm wondering if
Isabella and I are going to be fit enough for an early May LD ride and
then 1-2 LD rides/month thereafter with a goal of *possibly* a 50 by
the end of the year? Is that too lofty of a goal? We're usually at a
slow-mid/turtle pace.
