[RC] saddles (again) - Jonni

english saddles (several): not enough room to hang thing from; 2 horses
got sore backs over 50 miles+<<<

I have no trouble adapting them to hang all the crap I can from them as easy
as any other saddle. Most good saddle shops can add more rings to them. The
fit is another issue. Many do not have a very large surface area to
distribute the weight of some riders over enough area of the back. I liked
the fit of the Arabian Saddle Co. Solstice for the horses, and it had a
larger area to distribute the weight, but did not like the leg position for
ME. others love it. They put you in more of a dressage position and I was
used to.

Big Horn endurance: crept forward up over the withers<<<

They creep forward on most horses I have used them on. It is the current
saddle that is fitting my guys, so I will go with it for awhile. I just use
a crupper, and problem solved.

Western style endurance -I have a hard time with my knees in any western
fenders.<<<

You can change them out you know. Nothing says you can't go to a 2" stirrup
leather like Ortho-Flex uses. Look at the saddles Annie George makes.

She offers a lighter "fender".

Tried a Stonewall - quite liked it but too narrow for my horse <<<

Not uncommon from the ones I have tried. They usually fit a more narrow
horse well, unless they have a custom fit for your horse done.

For those of you who ride 100s - your saddles must fit well and be
comfortable - DO tell! And what about those of you who ride several
horses - how do you deal with that?<<<

A saddle should fit well and be comfortable if you only do LD's IMO. I have
3 horses, and they are all wide. One has high withers, then springs wide. He
has the dips or "pockets" below the withers. For him, he gets a pad that is
thicker in that area. Otherwise, the Big Horn is fitting them right now. I
also invested in an Impression Pad, to check saddle fit. Best investment I
could have done. I ruled out a bunch of saddles before the XP2004. You will
end up saving money by figuring out a saddle fit issue BEFORE you buy the
saddle!!

Good luck in your search. I too, have hear nothing but good things about the
Reactor Saddles, and they sound like they are worth the $$$ if you have it
to spend.
