[RC] Ringbone - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Skyla temposmom@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== We had a horse, that came down with high ringbone on a front pastern. We worked with a vet to get the darn thing to "fuse", which in this horse's case was a good thing. Once it did fuse, he went on for several years without any issues from the ringbone. On the other hand, I have one that developed low ringbone on a back pastern. He had broken his coffin bone in the pasture, and got the low ringbone as a compensation. :o( The low r.b. was the "kiss of death" for his future use as anything but very light trail. The coffin bone healed up just fine. Now at 24 he still does fine, as long as we don't irritate it, and he is ridden lightly. Had I continued to ride him harder, he would have ended up pasture lame. High ringbone has the potential to still allow for a good using career. Your vet will be able to assist you best with the "type" of ringbone you have. Good luck, and don't give up yet.
