RE: [RC] Trailer turnaround - Nancy Sturm

Hi Stacey,

We have used our "arena" for turning the horse  trailer and other equipment around.  Our house and barn sit at the end of  1/2 a mile of single lane  country road with a bridge that has about 2" of clearance on each side of the trailer tires.  Lots of fun to haul in and out over the last 41 years.

However, our footing is strictly low budget.  We have a guy come up once a year and till up plain old dirt.  What I would give for some sand!

We do plan to have someone come in and make a parking pad for all three trailers (boat, travel, horse) which will allow us to pull in from one side and drive out on the other.

Subject: [RC] Trailer turnaround

Does anyone use their arena to turn their trailer around?  Is it indoor or outdoor arena? If so, what is your arena footing?  Reason for asking....I have a VERY long curvy back with a 3HorseGN in order to park it under the lean-to by my barn.  My husband really doesn't want me to have to back it all the way so he's trying to figure out a way for me to turn it around and only have a short back to park it.  I have limited space so I really don't want to use up more pasture or take out tons of trees in order to make a turn around.  Otherwise, I'll just have to make the back the way it is.  Any suggestions would help.

Thanks,
Stacy
