There has been some interest in these
horses in the past. I just saw an ad in the local paper today that the Nez
Perce Tribe is having an auction to reduce their stock. The auction will
be in Lewiston, Idaho, on March 12, at Lewiston Livestock. It looks like a
local horse dealer is running the auction. The website is www.dilloncowhorses.com or you can call Frank Dillon at 208 743-8366
for more information. I know that the breeding program has been neglected
for awhile. I'm not sure if they are getting out of it, or starting
over. I don't know what kind of care, how consistent the care has been,
etc. I saw one of these horses at the Sarvice Flats ride a few years
ago. Nice looking horse, good bone, right kind of build for an endurance
horse. I've also seen a couple of the Akhal-Teke stallions that they
used. Very nice horses. They did tend to have a long back
though, IMO.
