Re: [RC] [RC] Bits - for those of you who love your horse, read. - Karen WilliamsFWIW ... I've been using the bitless bridle for two years now and just love it. I don't snug the noseband as tight as they say to. Before I tried the bitless bridle, my horse always leaned heavily into the bit -- he's very light on the bitless. I also have a 20-year old Arabian who I don't ride much anymore. I took him out a few weeks ago for a spin and put the bitless bridle on him -- he'd never had it on him before and acted like he'd worn it forever.Just goes to prove what we already know -- one size doesn't fit all.......... I don't think the problems with the bitless bridle are a matter of severity but rather a matter of the horse becoming so confused by the conflicting pressures exerted by this briddle, especially when asking for a turn, that the horses simply panic. I can ride my horse with a string and no bit or with a double bridle with out incident, but the bitless bridle had him so confused that for the first time ever, he became uncontrollable. When I got off, he just looked at me with that look of "what the hell was that????" =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
