RE: [RC] Which horse to buy? - Melissa AlexanderAm I reading too much into this to think that she wants to stay? If I had my own truck/trailer, I would go spend the day out riding and then see if she was ready to load up for home. Our trailered out rides so far have been 1.5 to 2 hours. She might. But it may also be that she hasn't generalized her trailer training well. She loads at home because she has done that there multiple times. But these trails are new places, and so the process isn't exactly the same to her. Once she completely generalizes the process, she'll probably be fine. (From my experience horses generalize better than dogs, but neither generalizes as well as a human. Except for aversives -- all species generalize aversives well because that's a requirement of survival. So if this were a trailer fear, she'd be more that able to generalize. :-P ) Melissa =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
