Re: [RC] Truck storage - Allen OsborneMy clever husband built the most wonderful storage space/aerodynamic storage area for our truck. Our truck is a Ford F350, with a long box. This thing he built is a made from a fiberglass air deflector off of a semi. I'm sure you've seen them--the big, weird shaped thing that makes the air go from the semi-truck cab, up and over the trailer? Well, hub cut it down and reshaped it (very clever boy) and made it into a storage unit that mounts behind the truck cab. It is sealed and weatherproof, so we can store all kinds of stuff in it when we travel. And if you need an extra sleeping area and aren't over about 5' 8" it works great for that, too. He has sized it appropriately so that the front of the gooseneck does not touch it when we go around corners. It has access doors on the back that open. If you're from the Northwest Region, you probably remember seeing it (black truck with big black box on it, and aluminum trailer with no graphics). If interested in photos, let me know, and I'll see if I can prevail over technology and send to you. I store all my tack in it, as well as all kinds of camping gear and other necessities. That leaves the trailer living quarters for human stuff; the horse area just has horses in it. What we gain in aerodynamic advantage, I'm sure we lose from carrying additional weight, but it's pretty nice and solves this problem. Let me know if interested in photo. If you notice it at ride events, feel free to come look. I just bought a similar truck but with the crew cab for the kids. I was thinking of either getting a narrow tool box that fits across the truck behind the cab ( do they even make something like that? ) or one of those rolling covers that I can roll toward the front when I hook up the gooseneck and just keep all that extra stuff in a rubbermade container. I made the move to truck from suburban so I can tow a gooseneck but you really lose a lot of storage or maybe I just need to learn to get along with less stuff. > > Roxanne > > > > =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= > > Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net. > Information, Policy, Disclaimer: http://www.endurance.net/Ridecamp > Subscribe/Unsubscribe http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/logon.asp > > Ride Long and Ride Safe!! > > =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= > =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
