Re: [RC] re: speed at multidays - rides2farAlso, one of the lessons I learned last year from riding > slowly intentionally is that I can finish faster on a ride with less vet > checks, because more time is spent going steady. I'm going to take this opportunity to clarify something for newbies, since this could be misleading. (This is one of the most common things I have to explain to newbies) your hold times do not count on your ride time, but they *do* count against your allowed 12 hrs. Maybe you feel you keep your momentum up better with fewer holds, but they need to understand that hold times are not lenthening their ride time and fewer holds won't automatically give you a faster ride time (it slows me down since I use my ride time letting my horse eat along the trail) Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
