Re: [RC] [RC] Public Perception - Nancy Mitts25 years ago, before I was involved in endurance, I was informed that the difference between endurance and competitive trail was that endurance killed horses and CT didn't. Long, long before FEI and the UAE were hot topics, for sure.About 10 or 12 years ago I was denied permission to put on a ride because the land manager was afraid the riders would run over other people using the area. The place was set up to hold field trails with dogs and horses, so it wasn't just horses in general. Lets face it folks, endurance has a less than pristine reputation with a lot of people who know next to nothing about it, really. Bad publicity surrounding high profile rides (FEI or not) won't help matters, but it sure isn't where the attitude started. It is the every day rides and riders that directly contact the largest number of people that matter, those we share the trails with and the people who manage them. We all represent out sport, every time we ride. (For some reason the helmet, tights and bothane give us away <BG>). I'm not sure what the answer is, but attacking each other isn't going to cut it.
