[RC] FEI deaths - terre

If you look at the FEI championship racess (Pan Am's and WEC)- that
doesn't sound too far off.

Can somebody refresh my memory? As far as I can recall, Spain 3 years ago was the first (and only?) WEC or WEG to suffer a horse fatality--I can't remember any others. It seems to me that all the deaths we have seen have been at PACs--ie here in North America. Is that correct? Does anybody know for sure?

If the above were true, and leaving aside the issue of the percentage "treated"--and also given that we don't know the stats from European FEI rides (Leonard?)--it almost makes me wonder if WE aren't the problem. Are we, perhaps, the only field of riders competing at this level that can't manage our horses--perhaps because we don't train in the appropriate way?

terre (there! that oughta cause a stir!)
