RE: [RC] [RC] Public Perception - Christina McCarthy

Everyone who was alive remembers... when Ruffian broke down
on national TV in a "pointless" match race.  The fact that
they could not save her wasn't announced until the next
morning.  We all went to bed thinking surgery could save her
and she would be a terrific broadmare.  We all went to bed and
thought we would atleast get to see her foals.

I will never forget that day.......I had a pin with Ruffian on it and cried when I found out she had died the next day. I was 13 and up to that point wanted to be a jockey (not for me, grew to 5'8 and a bit in weight). She was a beautiful filly and what a tragic loss....
