Re: RE: [RC] [RC] OT-wide posts - Joe LongBlame Microsoft. We have a perfectly good standard for e-mail for the Internet, that assures that everyone who follows the standard can read everone else's mail that also follows the standard. But, Microsoft decided to ignore it, as they are wont to do. A lot of mail sent from Outlook or Outlook Express is in HTML -- like the post I'm replying to, which I can't read at all. Those that don't use HTML still may not include line breaks, but send each paragraph as one long line and expect the recipient's client to break the lines. Those clients that follow the standard don't break lines, so you see one super-wide line. I personally consider Outlook and Outlook Express to be among the worst software ever foisted off on the public, responsible for an awful lot of lost data and computer crashes due to their many vulnerabilites to viruses. There is advanced mail-list server software that will convert Microsoft/HTML e-mail into standard text e-mail readable on standard mail clients, but ridecamp isn't using it. I'm not saying that to criticize, just making an observation (there are costs involved). -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
