[RC] Trailering problem-oh boy do I know this one - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Sheila Larsen Sheila_Larsen@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I too have had trailering issues and received lots of advice. So this is what I did. First someone told me that their horse settled down in the trailer by do the Parelli (natural horseman) stuff, which I was already doing. I do believe that helped her settle down by making her more obedient period. I put screens on the trailer to let her see out. When she is alone in the two horse slant, I tie her but move the divider. I had her stand tied to the trailer to learn patience. When she was alone and kicked I tapped the brakes (and sometimes hard ). I put shipping boots on which seemed to help (is more reluctant to pick up her back feet to kick). Once I was lucky enought to actually catch her in the act while standing on the fender and was able to immediately whack her with the whip(that surprised her). I put in rubber matting on the sides of the trailer so she wouldn't get the "sound" satisifaction and hopefully not hurt herself. I haul her alot. Solved completely -no but getting much better. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
