About ten years ago, my friend Ashley, a devoted environmentalist, came into
work in a huff. "Did you know," she demanded, "that 2 million foxes are
killed every year in England during fox hunts?"

I stopped and did the math. "Ash, that would be, like, 5500 foxes a day. If
they've got that many foxes, they've got a pretty serious problem. They need
to control the population."

She thought for a moment. "Okay, maybe it was 2 thousand. But the point
still stands."

"No. No, Ash. With that kind of exaggeration your point isn't there at all."



Melissa, who likes foxes, doesn't live in an area where they overpopulate,
and thus prefers scent drags
