Roxanne>> Roxanne, I board in an area that has a maximum of 5km (a full *3* miles!) of road riding, IF you use your imagination to the max ;-)) I got my stallion fit for his first season of LD by *walking* the area available to us - and then I'm talking a walk that knocks the pants off any comers ;-)) The area is sufficient to maintain the base he has on him now, but I also box out to ride distance over weekends. Even with the walking, you need at least two consecutive days off for the tissues to heal. FWIW.
