I give my guys flax seed oil.  They do great on it. My chronich alergy dog 
doesn't itch nearly as much, and the others have great shiny coats.  

I don't have a grinder, or I'd try the seeds (dogs don't chew...or at least 
mine don't).  The oil seems to work fine for them though.  I give them 1 
tablespoon of oil on their breakfast daily.

While we are talking dogs...I've got a 6 month rescue chocolate lab that needs 
a home.  I've been training him to go out with the horses, and he's pretty good 
for up to two miles right now!!  Anyone want a lab???
