The other day I observed a 7-8 year old Mustang mare whose feet were in
need of trimming (about 2" off I'd say) but what really struck me was when she
took a few steps the muscling on her forearms actually slid around like they
were jello. This mare was domestically raised from a weanling, given some
professional training in western pleasure around age 4, but has not been ridden
now for about 3 years because of the owner's illness. The pressure hollows
above the eyes were also quite distended, something I associate with
Cushings. Can anyone tell me if this is just a horribly out of condition
horse or does it sound like symptoms of something else?
