[RC] nutrena empower - Tracey SmithYes, it will help put weight on. I was turned on to it last year after my 27 year old mare had a severe bout of colic and lost A LOT of weight. She has never been an easy keeper and when she was sick and lost over 100 pounds it was tough to get it back on her.
I was also trying to help fill out the topline in my younger former rescue horse and Empower really did the trick for both.
I forget the exact amounts now, but I was advised to feed a larger amount when I first started them on it for the first month and then it was down to the point where they each only got 1 cup of empower twice a day.
I did not feed it as their sole source of grain, so I never really had any problems with it making either of my mares "hot"...but both of mine get a fair amount of work as well. Tracey Smith
