I have always fed flax seed whole and definitely noticed a great
improvement in my horse's skin problems. I am sure some is swallowed whole, but
don't you think that the way the horses grind their food that most of it is
ground by their teeth even more finely than a grinder would do by the time the
horse swallows? I just can't imagine a horse swallowing food without chewing
most of it. At least mine seem to almost become hypnotic while enjoying
chewing their food slowly.
