Re: [RC] equithane and sole health - Truman Prevatt

I don't like pads becasue the sole can take a beating with pads - especially if the conditions are wet. That's one of the reasons I went to equithane instead of pads. The sole is quite healty when it is removed. My farrier feels that even with it in there is still sole pressue and circulation that you don't get in pads. I've never taken any out to find any problems with the sole. You sure can't say that about pads. All in all, I've been quite please with it.

Thanks for your answer, Truman. What shape are your horses' soles in when they've had the black equithane on them for a shoeing period? Does that stuff breath at all or do you treat hooves with something to prevent rot before you apply the equithane? -Frances.
