[RC] Equithane for barefoot shoeing - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I wrote to Ridecamp last week about hind buckles on Easyboots that may mare
keeps knocking open. Since then I have tried miles of duct tape, and have
melted small holes in the boots on either side of the buckles for zap straps.
Nothing has worked so far. I'm following the Barefoot/Shoeing discussion that
has been going on here and I agree that boots change a horse's way of going,
partly because the breakover is moved and because the traction they give is
very different to a barefoot. My next question is: Has anyone tried using
Equithane or something similar,on a barefoot horse, to build up the sole. I've
never used the stuff. Does it set rock hard or is it rubbery? How do you get it
off a hoof? How good is the protection it offers? Could it be used instead of
boots? Thanks!! I'm trying hard not to shoe but my will is wavering...!
