[RC] Where were you? Long - GarnerTTo Whom It May Concern: I don't ride internationally & I've never experienced a problem with my endurance horse, Thank God. I do know that not everyone can handle being near your horse, helpless & upset. It doesn't mean they don't care. Having lost a child & been in a children's hospital for a fair amount of time, I can tell you that there are a lot of parents who can't bear to be in with their dying child. It is no one's right to criticize anyone on whether or not they are by their horse's side during treatment or not. Maybe the vets asked her to go away so they would have room to work on her horse, maybe she was so upset she wasn't helping, who knows? It is not our business to preach when we don't know the facts. Destructive criticisms do nothing to help a situation, they only hurt people's feelings needlessly. Constant negativity from people is designed to hurt, not help. Usually I just delete these posts, but recent threads on Ride Camp have just pushed my buttons lately. I enjoy Ride Camp for the information, but I can't stand the second guessing and spite that some people on ride camp spew. I wasn't there, I don't know what happened. I read a post like that & I'm thankful the horse is O.K., and I'm thankful my horse is O.K. In addition, I really don't care if you ride your horse barefoot, naked, in a turban, with a monkey perched on your shoulder while you whistle Dixie. It's your horse & your business. I am extremely sorry for anyone whose horse needs to be treated and I would never try to suggest they overrode their horse or didn't care. I shoe my horse because he's a big pussy who thinks a minuscule stone bruise is a crippling injury. That is my business. Oops! I also use a running martingale & a kimberwicke since my horse is so untrained & wild. In addition, for those who want to report me to the Horse Welfare Committee, I don't electrolyte, either. It gives my horse gas & the runs. So there. Kathy Garner =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
