Re: [RC] Maybe shorter is better ;) - Chris PausWell, a horse will only stride as far as his frame will let him, but within his own parameters, yes he can be encouraged to take longer strides. One way to do that is when he's in a nice relaxed walk, gently press him with your legs, alternating right and left, with his stride. It will speed up his walk a bit. At the trot, ride with a horse who has a faster, longer trot and ask your horse to keep pace, but don't let him break into the canter. He'll have to figure out how to extend his legs to increase his pace. he'll do it... One thing I always recommend is that people learn some basic dressage.
